By Blog Brigade: Emma Christensen, Madeline Conter, Madison Dorsey

Yesterday, we were given the opportunity to actually sleep in! While some got to catch up on their z’s, Breakfast Brigade began cooking up some pancakes, blueberry compote, and eggs for the gang.

We then had a quick rep rehearsal, because we would later perform 3 times that day. After feeling good about our later performances, we headed out to our first gig: DENNETT ELEMENTARY.

Dennett Elementary School is the former school of Emma Christensen. We got to share our love of drum, dance, and rhythm with kids of all grades, and hopefully start to inspire a new generation.

We then headed back to The Manor to chow down on some lunch. From sandwiches to rice bowls to hot dogs, we fueled up and then headed out for a walk along the Cape Cod Canal. We enjoyed the view of the water, met some cute new dog-friends, and even collected a vast array of rocks, which now are located somewhere inside of The Manor.

But, the fun had to end eventually. Dancers got ready to head out to DramaFun while the drummers stayed behind and began the incredibly strenuous task of cleaning the house.

At DramaFun, our dancers performed a couple spring show pieces (be on the lookout for spring show promo coming soon) and even got to teach the kids one of our routines!

Back at The Manor, Dinner Brigade began to cook up some delicious stir-fry, and after the returning of the dancers, everyone chowed down and prepared to head out for one more activity: hang out with Tufts Beats!

Tufts Beats is a street-percussion ensemble, so it was really cool to be able to learn some of their pieces and teach them some of ours. We taught both the dancing and drumming to Abracadabra—one of our ReFusionShaka pieces—and performed Bikez for them as well. We were able to learn one of their rep-pieces and watch another!

Finally, it was time to head home. After bearing the long drive back to The Manor, we relaxed and called it a night, as we had to be up early the next morning for more rehearsals.

That’s all for now!

With love and rhythm,

Boomshaka <3
