Downtown Adventures in Detroit

Hello fabulous fans! 

To start out day four of tour, Boomshaka woke up bright and early to fuel our bodies for some exciting adventures in Detroit! 

Packed and ready with food for the day ahead, members embarked on the journey to our first stop: the Belle Isle Aquarium. Did you find the hint in the tour puzzle? We admired amazing, colorful fish, frogs, axolotls, seahorses, and starfish, met Nemo, and even saw fish species that have existed since the dinosaurs! We also learned about keeping our waters clean and signed the guestbook in remembrance of our time there.

After some twists and turns (aka self-guided exploration), Boomshaka made their way to the Belle Isle Nature Center where we watched some birds, spotted a few deer, learned about the river animals, and saw some bees. Then, we were off to the city.

Hungry and in need of an energy boost, members hurried to the renowned Buddy’s Pizza for some delicious Detroit-style pizza. 

With satisfied bellies, members were ready to brave the rest of the day and traverse the city of Detroit. Boomshaka shopped, played some games, took photos, and ended the excursion drumming on city benches. 

Tired from a fun and successful trip, members returned to the Nishi house to wind down and recharge for an important night of games and tradition, but not before partaking in a tasty pasta dinner made by our dinner brigade!

That’s it for today. Tour is more than halfway over (sad!), but we still have some exciting activities ahead. Stay tuned to see what’s next!
