In Boomshaka fashion, we hit the ground running for our first proper day of tour. We were awoken by the arrival of Kyle, who flew in from California so as to not miss out on the Boom fun, and the delicious smell of Breakfast Brigade whisking up some eggs and toast to prepare us for our busy day. Our morning officially began with rep rehearsals, where we rehearsed our gig pieces to make sure they were show-ready. This was followed by our very first gig of tour: the Cape Cod Children’s Museum. Before we left, we made sure to collect Lauren Kee, who ventured down from Boston to join us for the week.

Stepping into the museum felt like a dream full of cool scientific demonstrations, fun play activities, and a full-blown pirate ship. Before we started performing, we took our chance to explore the wonders available.

However, we eventually had to get down to business, and set up on top of the pirate ship to start drumming, dancing, and rhythming! Our snaps piece even featured pirate-themed jokes!

After our hard work at the gig, Lunch Brigade (who doubles as Breakfast Brigade) cooked up some yummy quesadillas. Whether or not some were burnt in the process is for us to know, and for you to wonder. To relax and wind down, we took some time to enjoy some games! We played Coup, Poker, and Mafia, bringing about lots of laughs and memories!

Our dinner featured Kyle’s famous enchiladas, cooked up by the Dinner Brigade. We hope the recipe will live on for tours to come.

During the day, our puzzle crew was hard at work, taking time out of their busy day to advance the collective good and complete the puzzle: Lobster Landing. Take a look!

Given how well our first day in Bourne went, we are only excited for the things to come! Thanks for tuning in, and see you tomorrow!

With love and rhythm,

Boomshaka <3
